Apocrypha Now! is a nice little art zine out of San Diego, California. The contents include an Ask Morrisey column, an interview with the band Sunk Like a Battleship, sweet reflections on an artist friend named Marlene who went away to school in Paris, a movie review comparing Ray and Walk the Line, random art collages and even a token skate photo. I guess that makes this a skate zine! Ha-ha. The full color pages add a very nice touch. I think it’s safe to say that Apocrypha Now! will make a fine addition to any art zine or skate zine collection. Here’s hoping for more (and thicker) issues soon.

Emerica in Shake Junt Video!

There’s a new independent video that just came out of Los Angeles called Shake Junt. It was made by Shane Heyl and features parts from Emerica flow riders Ryan Thomas, Mike Hubert and Erik Hamamoto, who shares a part with his homie, Braydon Szafranski. There is also a Baker section in the vid that includes Andrew Reynolds, Kevin “Spanky” Long, Bryan Herman and Braydon.

Shake Junt has some good second angles of sessions from Baker 3 and a bunch of never-before-seen footage of the Baker team. Jim Greco, Erik Ellington, Dustin Dollin, Terry Kenndey, Jeff Lenoce, Antwuan Dixon, Beagel, Jon Colbert, Randal Wilson and many others make an appearance.

Everyone in Shake Junt put together really good parts, and the overall feeling is that of the previous Baker videos. It’s raw! Shake Junt is fun to watch, so be sure to look for it at your local skate shop. If they don’t have it, you can buy it on eBay. Highly reccommended!

All of you dedicated Emericans better get ready for Phase 1 of the brand-new Emerica 2.0 Web site, which will launch soon. This new online headquarters for Emerica will be much more visually appealing and user-friendly. Just for starters, team riders, products and news will be easily visible and accessible on most pages. Phase 2 and 3, scheduled to launch a while later, will have many more features that will blow you away. But we can’t talk about that yet. It’s top secret.

But, we will need the help of some Beta testers. So, if you’re a regular EMB lurker, we might invite you to help out. Definitely stay tuned to the Emerica site. It’s going to blow away the rest of the skate industry’s Web presence, which won’t be too hard to do, since most of their lame sites are so comfortable kickin’ it back in the ’90s! Ha-ha!

This is all part of Emerica’s ongoing campaign to Empower today’s skateboarding youth.
