Emerica pros Andrew Reynolds, Heath Kirchart, Tosh Townend, Kevin “Spanky” Long and Leo Romero; along with Emerica Team Manager Justin Regan, filmer Jon Miner and Team Assistant Jeff Henderson; just returned from a trip to The Canyons in Park City, Utah. The purpose was to get everyone together, do a little snow shredding and talk about the various adventures the Emerica team will embark upon in 2005.
The team spent four days hitting up the slopes, playing poker and chillin’ beside the fireplace at the cabin. Thanks to ThirtyTwo, M6, Rome, VZ and the Click skate shop for hookin’ us up with gear. Everyone had a great time. In fact, the day after the team left Utah for California, an avalanche killed a snowboarder on the very same off-trail slope that Heath and Tosh were sessioning only the day before. How sketchy is that?!
While we were in Utah, we did an Emerica shop signing at BC Surf & Skate in Sandy, Utah. Thanks to the 300-plus Kids in Emerica who showed up! Everyone was crammed into the shop and went crazy when the Emerica team walked in. They really enjoyed meeting all you kids that showed up. Thanks for having us, BC Surf and Skate!
As soon as we got back from Utah, Emerica pros Kevin “Spanky” Long and Leo Romero, as well as Emerica ams Matt Allen and Braydon Szafranski, took off for Miami to meet up with up-and-coming Emerica rider Brandon Westgate to shoot photos and film. Then we drove up to the annual Tampa Am contest, which went down over the weekend. We were in Tampa for Matt Allen’s birthday, which was on Saturday, January 23. Matt turned 18, which means he’s now legal to buy smokes, porn and lottery tickets. Oh yeah, he was also finally granted entry into one of the nicest little pleasures Tampa has to offer, the infamous Mons Venus cabaret. Have fun, Matt! Happy Birthday!
Meanwhile, Emerica pro Aaron Suski is on a filming mission with the rest of the Birdhouse team in Barcelona, Spain. We can only imagine what kind of creative lines the Suskinator will put together with the plethora of spots Barcelona has to offer. The Birdhouse video is due out in the near future. In the meantime, son, be sure to check out Aaron’s nine-page 20 Questions interview in the March 2005 issue of TransWorld Skateboarding—complete with a fold-out ’n’ everything. Big ups to Suskawoo! Our boy breakin’ it off!
Breaking news! This just in: Braydon Szafranski has just put down an insane hammer on an infamous Miami hubba for his Baker video part. Although you’ll have to wait a lil’ while for the video to drop to see what went down, you’ll definitely be amazed!
