Wild in the Streets! Today was a great day to be a skateboarder in Philadelphia! An estimated crowd of 1500 skaters took to the streets in unison to celebrate the simple act of skateboarding. Both Fox and Warner Brothers’ local stations aired segments on the 10 o’clock news featuring interviews with Emerica’s own Justin Regan.
Countless reporters from the Philadelphia Daily News, the Philadelphia Enquirer, the Associated Press, and National Public Radio were all in attendance and took quotes from Justin and various members of the Emerica team. A crew of eight filmers captured the entire event to feature on Al Gore’s new network that launches next month. The segment will run several times during their first week of broadcast. The footage will also be shown on MTV2 for a possible 30 or 60-minute special.
The Emerica team shined in their usual glory: From arriving on their Harleys to blowing the minds of the on-lookers at the makeshift skateparks of the day. The cooperation and interaction between skateboarders and police officers was commendable, and there was no room for either to say anything bad about the other. Thanks to Emerica and all the skaters who joined in, Wild in the Streets 2005 was a great day for skateboarding in Philadelphia. Check back soon for a more detailed story.
