cara: So, how's your new shop coming along?
Good, I guess. I'm kind of a absentee owner, because I live so far from Iowa. I talk to them daily, but I don't see what goes on.
f0undation00: Do you have a part coming up that will exceed your part in Sight Unseen?
The point is to always exceed your previous parts. We'll see what I can come up with.
emericanDummy123: Even though the Kirchart 4 came out a few months ago, are you thinking of ideas for the Kirchart 5?
Yeah, all the Emerica riders are always working with the shoe designers to come up with new shit. Now that I ride for Emerica clothing, my shoes will have a lot of tie-ins with the clothes.
mikethedyke23: When you got hit by a car, did you think you would never skate again, or skate as good again?
Yeah, it took three months to see what was wrong. I couldn't even walk during that period. It took 5 1/2 months till I knew that I would be able to jump down shit. There are still certain things that affect it that I stay away from.
emerica fan: How did you pass time when you got hit by a car?
I opened Subsect skate shop in Urbandale, Iowa, but other than that, I worked out and rehabilitated my knee.
baked91: How often do you have to go to your shop?
Probably once every three months, usually for four or five days. They got a park that's good to skate out there.
baked91: What have you been stoked on lately?
Just being able to skate.
Iwanttompennystyle: What music genre do you listen to? What group is your favorite?
As I'm answering these questions, I'm listening to Nick Cave, but mostly rock 'n' roll. I listen to a lot of Pink Floyd, Morrissey, pretty much everything but rap / hip-hop.
DyiNg2sKAte9189: In This is Skateboarding, who came up with the idea of the Kirchart Dance of Despair?
Jon Miner. I may not get a trick every time I go out, but I'll get something. Jon just edited a part out of the things I get when I don't make a trick.
janjanspank: When you wake up, what's the first thing you think about?
Eating, usually an omelet.
abec-1: Security is pretty heavy around UCI. How did you manage to get all your tricks done?
I haven't been there since they took the rails out. But, I'll do whatever it takes to skate a certain spot, like go back at all hours of the night and morning for that window when you get a couple hours.
rezillo23: I saw you in the recent Skateboarder magazine article about El Toro, lipsliding the rail. Are you ever scared of riding such big rails? What do you do to get over it?
Yeah, they're scary. I usually think of the worst case scenario and try to avoid it. Most of the time you don't get hurt on the big stuff, but when you do, it's bad.
Guile: If this little planet was about to be destroyed by aliens and you could only save one of your video parts, which one would it be?
I'd edit them all together and make one that I'm happy with. But, really I wouldn't care, because the planet is going to be destroyed.
nioreh25: How loose do you ride your Indys? How hard are your bushings?
The bushing's are stock orange Indy bushings. I ride them at the point where the bolt is flush with the nut.
PopwarPanda: Have you ever got booed to your face by some kid at a demo?
bighank: Have you put any thought into what you want to do with your life after skating?
Yeah, I want to own a ranch with a private skatepark in the barn. Retirement.
Andrew: How do you like your steak cooked? I myself am a medium rare type of person.
Me, too, boiling in butter.
emerica303: If you were locked in a Lowe's warehouse with George Clooney and Carmen Electra asking you to tie their shoes, and George had rabies and Carmen had a chain saw and didn't look very predictable, would you tie their shoes? BUT WAIT! You also have a broken leg, you are very stoned, it is hailing the size of grapefruits, it is 3:33 a.m., you are sweating an ocean in the store, and you have a belly full of Lamar's donuts.
Good question. Wait, I forgot what the question was.
Moohaumed: About your song in This is Skateboarding, how come Mellow only sings that one song? That's the only one I can find from them, at least. Where'd you hear about them? What else do they sing, and where do I get the songs?
They have other songs. The song I used sounds different than their others, though.
Moohaumed: Do you have an account with Park Avenue Bank? If so, I'm sure my mom could give you a big interest-free loan if you'd let me come live with you or adopt me, or something.
Interest free? When's it come due?
ILOVEMERICA: If you had to change your name, what would it be?
Skoops De Kan
greyskate13: Do you still watch cartoons?
ultimask8er: Is blowing up random stuff with fireworks as fun as skating? What kinds of things do you like blowing to bits? What's your favorite explosive to use?
I think you got the wrong guy, I'm the guy that likes to crush shit.
ezerica: Are you going to try anything else down El Toro again?
No. There are other rails.
ezerica: How do you feel when you see a kid wearing your pro shoe? Do you get pissed when someone says they hate it? Do you wear any other pro shoe but yours, like the KSL1 or the B.Herman?
It's kind of like being locked in a Lowe's warehouse with George Clooney and Carmen Electra.
ILOVEMERICA: Have you ever farted on a toilet seat cover and heard your fart get amplified?
Yes, It's a thing of beauty.
FatMatt: I read recently that there are a few big-name street pros that have never dropped in on a proper vert ramp. I think that is a bit lame. I'm sure you have done it at some point. What do you think of the pros that have not?
What's a vert ramp?
Boywhocriedskate; Would you ever become a black polar bear?
I prefer to be a black sheep.
Stephaniesays: Do you sleep with your socks on or off?
Definitely OFF. Fuck those people that sleep with their socks on.
