At the third annual GvR (Goofy vs. Regular) contest at the Skatepark of Lake Forest on Sunday, October 22, Team Goofy once again beat out Team Regular for the top spot and the lion's share of the loot. Most of the Emerica team (except for Goofy Matt Allen) represented and ripped it up for the Regs, who somehow came up a hair short in the points department, which put the Goofs in the winners' circle for the second year in a row.
To be honest, it was a close call as the two teams almost tied when all was said in done. Each rider got two individual runs, followed by two jam runs, in which each team's riders all skated together at the same time. The Regular team choked on some of their individual runs, which put Goofy in an unbreakable lead.
Some highlights of the day included Andrew Reynolds‘ full Cab down the huge double set, frontside flip over the handrail and nollie inward heel to nose manual across the Euro platform; Nyjah Huston’s heelflip front board down 11; Jereme Rogers' switch tré down the double set and Chris Cole’s backside 360 kicklip down the 11-stair.
Also, at halftime, the Los Angeles Derby Dolls got down and dirty in a rousing jousting match, which entertained the crowd in a big way. A wide array of short skirts and panties flitting about and girls getting knocked to the ground was the order of the day.
On Saturday night, the Beastie Boys played a free show for a crowd of several thousand at a massive GvR party. The three-day weekend also saw a pool contest and a girls' contest go down. All in all, it was an insane and super fun weekend. Here's looking forward to next year's battle of the stances!
