I have been trying to make it up to the Northwest for some time now to hit up the plethora of skateparks that are sprinkled all over the map of Oregon. I got together a crew of talented tranny skaters and made the pilgrimage to the works of art that Dreamland and Grindline have created for skateboarding. Chris and Anakin Senn, Aaron Suski, Jamie Tancowny, Collin Provost, Willy Akers, Ben Krahn, Tosh Townend, Joe Hammeke, Jon Miner, Mike Manzoori and myself were all on board for some good times.
Burnside is the OG skatepark of the Northwest. You have to hit it up whenever you are in Portland. This was Willy Akers first trip to this part of the country being from the east coast. He was probably the most stoked out the whole crew.
It was so awesome to have Chris and his son Anakin on the trip ripping side by side. Anakin is 15 and definitely got handed down the skate gene from his dad.
Everytime I go to Burnside (which is few and far between) there s always something new to skate. It is so amazing what the park has become. Suski was feeling it for sure.
While hanging out in Portland at a bar, Ludacrooks came strolling up quite pickled and was speaking in a scottish accent. He kept it going the whole time.
I was at a coffee shop with Chris and Aankin and noticed Anakin's griptape. It was instructional incase you forget.
Willy handling biz on the trip.
We kept hearing about how amazing the Hood River skatepark was so we dove 45 minutes east of Portland to check it out. The place was insane. Paths going through trees with whoopty-doos, a gap over a creek, and some unique obstacles. Collin was flying around this park with some sick lines.
Here's the crew hanging out after a good sesh in Hood River.
Time to hit up the next park.
Miner and Manzoori checking out the latest rag.
Senn Dog getting some at the West Lynn park outside of Portland.
Tosh came on the trip super last minute. We saw him a Sole Tech right before leaving and told him he should come with us. He wasn't able to leave right away but flew up to Portland to meet up a couple days later. It was awesome having him on the trip. This was at the Tigard skatepark, one of the best that we skated on the trip.
Willy skates FDR on the regular so he is no stranger to big transition. Here he floats a hefty frontside air off the quarter into the bank.
Collin started off skating vert and has become an all terrain ripper.
After skating the Tigard park, we drove out to Lincoln City and checked into a hotel on a cliff right on the beach. We had a nice little bon fire and listened to Hammeke tell stories of past trips.
Chet rolled out to Lincoln City with us and after skating the park all day, he set off to find a ride back to Portland, fool.
We met up with Mark "Red" Scott at the Lincoln City park. This guy is crazy, in a good way! You have to sign a waiver just to hangout at his house because there is so much thrill-seeking going on.
I'm sure this will hold up in court.
Senn, Tosh, Collin, Willy, and Suski all went down riding the dirt bikes. There were trails all over Red's property and there even a table top jump and a truck he keeps on hand just to jump it. There were no takers for the truck jump due to hearing a story about Frank Gerwer lauching past the landing and taking his back out for a bit.
Fuck yeah bro!
Being the owner of Dreamland Skateparks, it is expected that you would have a nice private bowl or skatepark on your property. Red's idea of a good time is 14 foot deep bowl in his garage. This thing was so intimidating. It was 11 feet at the smallest part of the bowl.
Ben Krahn was in there right away carving over the bowl's "Vagina".
After Lincoln City, we made our way down the coast of Oregon hitting up Florence, Reedsport, and Coos Bay. Then it was a mad dash to make to San Francisco by Friday night. We had to be at Toad and Salmon's Chili Bowl Cook Off contest at the SF park. It was a great end to an amazing trip and I can't wait to do it again someday.
