Do skaters change when they go pro?

I know Herman wears new shoes every day pretty much, and Ryan Sheckler changes his board every 2 days. What I'm trying to ask is- do you think when someone goes pro they get greedy, change, and get selfish, or what? If you find any articles or anything to share that'd be sick. Make this into a really cool discussion or something

  2. the way I see it is,
only skaters who their whole life never really had to work to make money for gear and took it for granted will use a ton of product when they go pro, because they never really respected their things in the first place.
going pro only gives them the opportunity to get more and more things for free, so they go overboard.
now skater who their whole life had to work to get money for much needed gear and everyday wore the most trashed shoes and destroyed decks would obviously respect what they have a lot more.

  3. therefore when they go pro, sure they will use more stuff than originally, but they will still actually use the free product until more is legitimately needed, as opposed to the other type of pros who get a new deck and shoes everyday just because they can.
longest post evar...had to split it up

  4. i totally agree with nate. everything is true. cause when people who dont work at all for theyre money and product and shit. but people like me and others who have to work for theyre stuff would kill for free stuff like that.

  5. In the Transworld buyersGuid sheckeler said he likes to have a fresh setup every few days. And new shoes everyweek. Greg Lutzka keeps a board for months.

  6. Well I agree with Nate, but at the same time, I personally keep my stuff till its either broken or not even worth my time anymore, I just can't afford buying new stuff every week, or ever really. But at the same time, if i was given it for free, and I could set up a new board every two days, or skate a new pair of shoes every couple days, I would. I'd rather be skating new stuff than old stuff, I just can't afford it.

  7. i agree with nate. i would use the board until it broke or just got as thin as a piece of paper from grinding it.but new shoes would be awsome after a month.

  8. Mabye it's just me but i think MOST PROS didnt get raised bein riched or had dads who are pros. many were just like us shoe gooing our shoes and skating with really bad decks. They went through a lot of hard work to become pro. especially in the 2000s when pros are doing things unimaginiable to me. if they are good enough to earn them a pro spoltigh i think they deserve to have the best equipment
