Originally part of Emerica’s inaugural 1996 lineup, the Mute returns by popular demand, remastered for a new generation of skaters. Emerica dug into the archives and brought back this team favorite, refining it with today’s technology while keeping its superior durability and comfort intact.
Built to Last, Built for Skating Hard:
The Mute keeps the legendary features that made the original a team go-to, starting with a double-layer, triple-stitched toe cap and an ollie pad. These upgrades ensure that the shoe can withstand the punishment of aggressive skating, from flip tricks to long sessions, without worrying about blowouts. It’s a tough, reliable skate shoe that will last for the long haul.
Perfect Fit, With Modern Convenience:
Elastic tongue straps provide a snug, secure fit, giving you the locked-in feel of a modern slip-on, while still retaining the traditional lace-up look. The tongue stays in place, ensuring that you get consistent comfort and support throughout your entire session.
Targeted Impact Protection with EM-PACT Foam:
Inside the heel, an internal EM-PACT foam pod provides targeted cushioning to absorb the shock of big drops and landings. This foam pod protects your heels without adding unnecessary bulk to the forefoot, allowing for the perfect balance of comfort and boardfeel. Additionally, the EM-PACT Foam Heel Pod provides a consistent, comfortable feel underfoot whether you’re cruising or jumping down stairs.
Durability and Grip Built In:
True to its roots, the Mute features a classic 400 NBS rubber outsole with a herringbone tread pattern, offering excellent grip and durability. This is the same sticky rubber that made the original Mute a team favorite, and it’s just as effective today as it was back in 1996.
Timeless Design with Modern Features:
Despite all the modern updates, the Mute stays true to its original ‘90s silhouette. It has a slightly padded collar, straightforward paneling, and a “ready to shred” vibe straight out of the box. It’s a classic look that never goes out of style and is built for high-performance skating.
Size & Fit
Emerica footwear is built to fit true to size, so your usual size is the best place to start. Because skate shoes are designed for board feel, control, and support, a snug fit out of the box is normal and will ease up slightly after a few sessions.

Care & Maintenance
Built to skate and made to last, Emerica footwear will hold up best with regular, low-effort care. Brush off dirt after sessions, spot clean gently with a soft cloth or brush, and let your shoes air dry naturally.
Store them in a cool, dry place between wears, and avoid direct heat or harsh washing methods. A little maintenance goes a long way in preserving the fit, feel, and life of your pair.

The day they arrived I ordered a couple more. These feel right to me, like an Accel but kinda better. Excellent proportions. They actually remind me a lot of the Reynolds 2s from back in the day, one of my favorites.

Back in the late 90s these and the Sal 23s were my favorite shoes to skate and when I heard that they were making them again I was pumped.The Mutes right out of the Box felt great.It usually takes awhile to get skate shoes broken in but just after one session they felt good. The insole felt pretty good but I always put FP insoles in for more support.Another thing that I really like is the triple stiching .So get yourself a pair there awesome 👌.

Really enjoy skating these shoes. I only skate cupsole shoes but you can feel your board like a vulc shoe. I would buy these again! And I will when another colorway goes on sale.

New favorite shoe again. Unlike a lot of shoes that are being remade these shoes feel as good or better than the original. Very grippy and good board feel.

The Mute’s are one of my favorite shoe’s. Triple stitched and built to last! Comfortable but not to thick that I couldn’t feel my board. The mid sole in the heel is a life saver for landing primo. I’m on my third pair!

Have been wearing these for the last year or two - and have had around 3 pairs of them. Super comfortable shoe. It is a tad wider than Vans, so the toe box and cup sole are roomy, but not too loose. They hold up pretty well to skating - outlasting many of the other shoes I’ve skated in. A personal favorite shoe!

I have 2E wide feet and these fit perfectly from the start. Toes seem to get good ventilation from the perforated holes. The only weird thing is the stitching on the inside of the toe cap. The nail of my big toe can get hooked by it when raising my toes.

Landed primo treflipping off a ledge and no pain WHATSOEVER. This is exactly why I bought these shoes. I usually have a heel bruise jumping down things but my feet are pain free after a sesh which is rare. I skated Vulcs all my life so it is taking my some getting used to but I love these Shoes Shoes have great grip, nice flick, and protect my feet jumping down things. Thank you emerica.
