Originally part of Emerica’s inaugural 1996 lineup, the Mute returns by popular demand, remastered for a new generation of skaters. Emerica dug into the archives and brought back this team favorite, refining it with today’s technology while keeping its superior durability and comfort intact.

The Mute keeps the legendary features that made the original a team go-to, starting with a double-layer, triple-stitched toe cap and an ollie pad. These upgrades ensure that the shoe can withstand the punishment of aggressive skating, from flip tricks to long sessions, without worrying about blowouts. It’s a tough, reliable skate shoe that will last for the long haul.
Perfect Fit, With Modern Convenience:
Elastic tongue straps provide a snug, secure fit, giving you the locked-in feel of a modern slip-on, while still retaining the traditional lace-up look. The tongue stays in place, ensuring that you get consistent comfort and support throughout your entire session.
Targeted Impact Protection with EM-PACT Foam:
Inside the heel, an internal EM-PACT foam pod provides targeted cushioning to absorb the shock of big drops and landings. This foam pod protects your heels without adding unnecessary bulk to the forefoot, allowing for the perfect balance of comfort and boardfeel. Additionally, the EM-PACT Foam Heel Pod provides a consistent, comfortable feel underfoot whether you’re cruising or jumping down stairs.
Durability and Grip Built In:
True to its roots, the Mute features a classic 400 NBS rubber outsole with a herringbone tread pattern, offering excellent grip and durability. This is the same sticky rubber that made the original Mute a team favorite, and it’s just as effective today as it was back in 1996.
Timeless Design with Modern Features:
Despite all the modern updates, the Mute stays true to its original ‘90s silhouette. It has a slightly padded collar, straightforward paneling, and a “ready to shred” vibe straight out of the box. It’s a classic look that never goes out of style and is built for high-performance skating.
Size & Fit
Emerica footwear is built to fit true to size, so your usual size is the best place to start. Because skate shoes are designed for board feel, control, and support, a snug fit out of the box is normal and will ease up slightly after a few sessions.
